Caye Caulker is a small island. There are no cars, the boats set the rhythm, and most days start with coffee on the pier. I have been hosting here for eight years. I answer my own messages, I meet guests at the door, and I know which fry jack stand is open before eight. If you tell me what you need, I will have it ready before you arrive.
The condo
One bedroom, one bathroom, the sea outside
The condo sits on the beachfront in the middle of the village. The bedroom is separate and air conditioned, the living area opens toward the water, and the kitchenette handles breakfast and a late dinner without turning into a chore. It is cleaned to the same standard every stay, and the linens and towels are waiting for you.
Queen bed in the separate bedroom, plus a foldable futon and a single rollaway bed in the living area. Sleeps 3 to 4.

The location
Central, beachfront, and quiet after dark
You are on the beachfront in the middle of the village, so the restaurants, the dive shops and the supermarket are all a few minutes on foot. Golf carts and bicycles pass on the sand road during the day. At night it goes quiet. The pool and the pier belong to the property, so you never have to walk far for a swim.

A few things worth knowing
Water taxi
About 45 minutes from Belize City, and the last boat usually leaves around 5:30pm, so plan a morning flight.
Tropic Air hop
A ten-minute flight to the airstrip if your plane lands late or you would rather not carry bags onto a boat.
On the island
No cars. Golf-cart taxis wait at the dock, and most people just walk.

Before you book
How do I get to the island?
Fly into Belize City (BZE), then take the water taxi from the municipal terminal, about 45 minutes. The last boat is usually around 5:30pm. If you land later, Tropic Air flies to the Caye Caulker airstrip in about ten minutes.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is 10am. Tell me your boat or flight time and I will do what I can with early arrivals and late departures.
Is there a minimum stay?
Two nights.
How many people can stay?
The place sleeps 3 to 4. The bedroom has a queen bed and the living area has a foldable futon and a single rollaway bed. Let us know your group size when you enquire so we can set the room up before you arrive.
What does the rate include?
The condo, linens and towels, air conditioning in the bedroom, WiFi, Smart TV, the shared pool, the pier and beach access. On top of the nightly rate there is 10.75% government hotel tax and a one-time 25 USD cleaning fee.
Is the pool shared?
Yes. The pool and the pier are shared with the other units in the building. They are rarely busy.
Is there a kitchen?
There is a kitchenette with a fridge, a microwave, a prep counter and an indoor dining area. Enough for breakfast, cold drinks and a simple dinner, not for a roast.
Do I need cash?
Bring some. US dollars are accepted everywhere at a fixed 2 to 1 with the Belize dollar. Smaller restaurants and the tour boats often prefer cash, and the island ATMs do run empty on weekends.
Is it safe?
Yes. The property has security cameras and a night guard, and the village is small. Normal care after dark is enough.
